OMG! You had something serious happen at work!

Ever happen to you?

Well it happened to me first on Saturday, 12-July-09, I had a seizure at work, although nothing new, it happened while a co-worker was present. Now my secret is secret no longer. Soon it will be common knowledge and my employer will be asking why I did not disclose this at the time of employment. Well, I had not had any for quite sometime and it sorta kinda slipped my mind if you know what I mean.

And now we go downhill from there. Yesterday, 18-July-09, I was helping a customer when snap! A sharp shocking pain from head to toe, all down the right side of my body, then it's gone just like that, but my the right side of my body is now ice cold, my arm and leg can barely move.

In the short time it took me to get to the nearest medical centre, things were going so wrong so fast. Half way through my meeting with the doctor I am now catatonic, I can see you, I can hear you, but I can't respond to you. By the time the ambulance arrives I am in even worse shape, I have a minor seizure and muscle spasms and cannot move on my own.

Now I am on at least 5 days total disability, while the doctors try to analyze the MRI and CAT scans to find out what happened. Which means now I am out of work for at least five days, and five days without pay.

Will I still have a "Regular" job in five days? Your guess is as bad as mine, I really have no idea. Since I was put in a position that I now have to disclose that I am on pain management and susceptible to the rarely occurring minor seizure. "Great", I am thinking, if my employer is looking for a excuse to eliminate my position I just handed it to them on a golden, no make that a platinum platter.

I mean come on, what better reason is there. "We're sorry but the fact that you could have a seizure might scare our customer..." or "We understand that you are on pain management, but the fact you are on Morphine Sulfate, we can't justify the risk that you may injure yourself or someone else..." All B.S. of course, if you get the sense a seizure is coming on you can try and fight it off or excuse yourself and go somewhere more private until it subsides. If you are on pain management work with your physician to find a pain med that you can cope with and still be 100%. If I can, anybody can.

Will I still have my "Regular" job? I hope so, I kinda like it as a "Full-Time" part-time job, it adds to my internet income.

Fortunately, I have my second income, the internet. I can work and survive even if I can't hold a "Regular" job. So even though I will be out of work for five days at my "Regular" job, I will still be able to work at my online job, which no one can take from me except me.

Without it, I would be out of luck and at the mercy of the state for any pittance they felt I might deserve.

So my secret is out, I thought I should share with you. You see, I am just like you, I am no silver spoon individual. You are not either are you? If you were, you would not be reading this blog. You are pretty much like everyone else, just like me, you try and get from one day to the next.

My goal with this blog is to encourage you to take responsibility for yourself. When you have done that, you are ready for whatever life throws at you. If you have week like I just did, you can look yourself in the mirror, smile (with an evilish grin of course) and say bring it on!
